Each year, with great hope and expectations the usual resolutions are made. Sadly enough, a mere 10% of us succeed in keeping them. The number one resolution made by Americans this year is to lose weight. Psychology Today gives us some ideas that will help achieve success with your new year fitness goals.

These include:

1.  Focus on one resolution

2.  Make your goal realistic

3.  Have an accountability buddy

4.  Take small steps

5.  Focus your thinking on new behaviors and thought patterns

Finding the right Personal Trainer can help!

If one of your goals for the New Year is to tone up, get stronger, grow muscle, change your eating habits, lose weight, improve your flexibility or any combination of these I can help you. As a personal trainer, I teach my clients the basics of weight lifting which includes using proper form, correct use of machines and workout routines. I also assess their starting point, determine a timeline for achieving success and support these efforts with dietary suggestions and client specific education.

I encourage, lend support, educate and help individuals accomplish their personal goals of permanent lifestyle change.

People are somewhat hesitant to hire a personal trainer. It seems like there are stereotypes being perpetuated by the media. They show trainers who berate their clientele, belittle them and drive them to the point of breakdown. While these techniques may make for good television programming, they are not realistic. As a personal trainer, I place equal emphasis on the ‘personal’ part of my personal trainer title. I encourage, lend support, educate and help individuals accomplish their personal goals of permanent lifestyle change. There is no better time than the New Year to start on the road to feeling better, enjoying a stronger body and living a healthier lifestyle!
