The ViPR is a weighted, hollow cylinder with openings for handholds that allow for lifting, tilting, flipping, and pulling. It is a fun and inventive physical training tool. The ViPR encourages tri planer movement through the sagittal, frontal and transverse planes of motion employed by the human body.
ViPR stands for Vitality, Performance, and Reconditioning.
Vitality
The ‘Vi’ of the ViPR stands for vitality which promotes a renewed sense of energy. When selecting exercises from vitality programming, the goal is to have fun exercising while developing strength, balance, and endurance.
Performance
The ‘P’ in ViPR stands for performance. This represents the ability to do the work as well as training the client to operate at their optimal level for the entire duration of the time demand. When using performance programming, the desired result is to have the athlete perform at their optimal level for the duration of the game/event. The desired adaptations for performance for the non-athlete is to be able to meet daily demands with an increasing level of skill and endurance.
Reconditioning
Finally, the ‘R’ stands for reconditioning. This usually applies to someone returning from an injury. However, it can also be used for the novice client, the sedentary person, or someone who has taken time off from regular exercise. Reconditioning programs are used for athletes who may have some apparent dysfunction as well as athletes who are perfectly healthy.
