Muscle Activation Techniques

We are always seeking ways to increase the knowledge of our clients in order to better serve and enhance their lives. Our commitment to the coursework and instruction in Muscle Activation Technique (MAT) is just one way we strive to enhance and help our clients live a better quality of life.

Using a Comparative Assessment of Motion (CAM), left versus right sides of the body, muscle weakness is determined by reduced range of motion (ROM) from one side of the body compared to the other. From there a specialist will determine which muscles should be tested for weakness and subsequently treat.

The areas a MAT specialist may choose to test are grouped into segments: Lower body, Upper body, Trunk and Spine, and Hand or Foot.

Using a technique of fingertip ‘stimulation’ at areas of origin and insertion on the bone of a ‘weak’ muscle, enhanced activation, increased range of motion, increased strength and reduction of pain can be achieved.
